Amazing what a bit of tweaking does

The big long stretch is where the poor MySQL daemon just couldn't cope with the demand. So a few tweaks to how it caches etc later and you see the boost. DB Server load dropped from 45.0 down to 0.40 too.

I've previously notice that phpmyadmin often suggests values and tweaks for your database, based on the queries and data it has collected on the running system and loads put on it.

Have you ever used these to help tweak and/or would you reckon these would be ok, or is it best to figure out all the values yourself?

I did it the old fashion way of showing the processes and variables and comparing ratios.

There's a few sites around the place that provide such information.
